The new Marikina Legislative Building is situated in the cityhall compound, Sta Elena Marikina City. The building houses the city council session hall. The office of the Vice Mayor and the 16 City Councilors, and several conference rooms.
Since the city of Marikina annually expirience flooding during the typhoon season, the new legislative building was designed to be flood resilient and was planned to be still operational even if the city is beset in flood. The building was also designed to withstand a 7.2 magnitude earthquake. Provisions for use of Solar panels and Rain-harvesting features were also considered in the design as part of city’s overall goal of having sustainable and resilient government center.
